The Blue Period (Early 20′s)

Simply put, by they time you are 20, the real world started to hit. You realize not everything is good in the world. Huge poverty, world hunger, petty politics, (I was looking at you, Gaza, among others). Your perspective changes as you continuously pass previous goals & horizons, read and travel more. You may become disenfranchised with existence. This is all very normal, of course. As such, like a pendulum your perspective should balance itself out overtime but not before it swings over to extremes a few times. So as time went by I, like most people do find our center.

The poetry during this period is shorter and to the point. Lacking the bouquet of the Pink Period and replacing the former’s airy themes with a darker, if pessimistic attitude. It was during this time, in my early 20′s that I began to leave poetry as mode of expression for the large arc and depth of short-stories, which shows in the lack of patience in building gravitas.
