Endeavour

I was once told life to be very fleeing

That it can race by you, so unbelievably fast

A flash of lightning!

That for some, it’s over before

Knowing what to do with it

Those lucky to find a path quickly discover

A calling…

Others land government jobs, with big pensions

But that is another poem.

Then I find myself here

With you in my life

With you to relish

I look forward to life,

Because I believe love should be called love only when it is returned

Yet I am afraid, not because one-day life may end

With that, I have come to terms

But the fact that now I know love is even more fleeing than life itself

But until then, I will make sure to cherish

The best gift and treasure I have in my possession

The best reason to be my very best

You.
