Flower

Stepping into fresher air

Out of my willing cage,

The sky’s free and ever so fair

How could anyone ignore our nature’s sage?

Suddenly, my attention catches

A flash lingering through the wind

Amazing! How my imagination it matches

As it gently descends, without a trait or trail of sin

The flying flower lands and sits

Taking my awareness far, far away

From the uninviting, festering concrete

And the hustling of human day

The wind gently makes her black and orange wings flail

Innocently and deliberately!

As majestic as a tall ship’s sail! Ready to leave, embark and explore

Uncharted land. Ignorant of the sands of time and the winds of man

Such unchained fate could only be a gift from a God

Who could possibly not be sate?

For certainly I would nod

For the chance for my own soul to liberate!

Then she departs…

As she leaves, I despair in my cell

In inner pain I lower my head as I fail to see…

But then her freedom yells,

“You are already free! No longer waste your life!

No longer wasted your deeds!”

Now come! Come! You can fly with me!”
